The Brazen Bride (The Black Cobra Quartet) Review

I have throughly enjoyed the first 2 books in this series, but consider this the best one. I thought after 2 books the plot would get old: a military man traveling from India to England on a spy mission, joined up with a female companion/future wife, battling bad guys to bring down the evil Black Cobra Cult. But Laurens does a great job of shaking things up and and introducing a new type of heroine. Linnet is very likable: a strong, compassionate woman with surprising strengths and skills. Logan has had his own challenges in life, and is a great foil for Linnet. The locales are interesting, the skirmishes with the Black Cobra Cult believable and exciting; the growing bond between Linnet and Logan enjoyable. I liked the fleshing out of the bad guys as well. Definitely worth buying!

There is NO bride; very poorly written - Dodie's Doodles - Atlanta, Georgia
I think that this book managed to get published simply because of the author's name. It is so horrible I couldn't even finish it, and skipped to the last two pages when I realized this was a stupid book that made no sense. I bought this book thinking it was about a bride and her new life in a rugged location with her husband. There is no bride in this book. And not only is there no bride, but the scenes make no sense whatsoever. For example, near the book opening, the man is the perfect, consumate lover but he is doing so while in a coma and the female keeps checking to make sure his eyes are shut so she knows he's still comatose. Isn't that the most stupid thing you have ever read? Has the author done any research on what it means to be comatose? At all? Oh, and I forgot to mention that the man has a large head wound, a gash down his side that exposes ribs and continues in a curved shape across the abdomen, where someone had tried to disembowel him. Ms. Laurens is a talented author, it just isn't evident in this book.

A Gem of a Great Read - B. Johnson - New Jersey, USA
I enjoy reading novels written by Stephanie Laurens and The Brazen Bride from The Black Cobra Quartet is no exception. I like the interplay between all the couples in the novels and the interjection of my beloved Cynsters. The fact that the heroines are not retiring, blushing do-nothing women is such a joy. Honoria Cynster from Devil's Bride is one of my favorite people from any of Stephanie's novels. It is a pleasure to find her popping up in other books as well. Thanks, Stephanie, for many hours of pure reading fun! Your books have a permanent spot on my bookshelves to be read and re-read.

Couldn't Put It Down! - 4Sterling -
Not sure why others have given this book bad reviews but I LOVED it and didn't want to put it down. Not only do you get to know what happens next in the series, you also get to revisit Cynsters & and characters from the Bastion Club series. Yes there is a lot more steam sex scenes in this book than the others but it didn't bother me like it bothered some. The female is a strong & unconventional woman (much like most of Stephanie Laurens characters) which I found a great opposite for the male lead. If you love Stephanie Laurens, you got to read this series, I suggest reading Cynsters books and Bastion Club books too.
