The Raven Prince Review

Cut to the chase - the h/h were both wonderful characters. It was refreshing to have a hero that was not a physical adonis. The hero is described as ugly with smallpox scars, a big nose and thin lips (although he sure looks good on the cover). The heroine is described as sorta plain, yet the chemistry between these two was smoldering. There are alot of very funny exchanges in the book - notably with the hero and his Valet. The best part of the book is when the heroine, Mrs. Wren, goes in disguise to the bordello to intercept her man. He is going so that he can get the image of the prim, proper heroine out of his mind. Little does he know that the girl he shares such hot sex with in the bordello is actually Mrs. Wren!!!! He does however feel very conflicted about it, because he would rather be making love to Mrs. Wren. Imagine his surprise when he finds out it was actually her! Let the "swiving" begin! I read this book in one day it was sooooo good.

The Raven Prince Overview

There comes a time in a womanrsquo;s life when she must do the unthinkable - and find employment. For the widowed Anna Wren, that means taking a job as female secretary for the Earl of Swartingham. Secretaries are always male - never female - as Anna well knows but the real downfall of her career is the realisation that she is falling in love with Edward de Raaf - the Earl. But when she realises that he is going to visit a brothel in London to take care of his 'manly' desires, Anna sees red - and decides to take advantage of the opportunity to also take care of her 'womanly' desires - with the Earl as her unknowing lover. But the Earl has another reason for going to London. He is formalising his betrothal and trying (with little success) to forget about a secretary that has no right being female. Unhandsome, he knows that no woman wants him. Except for the mysterious lady with whom he spent two unforgettable nights at Aphroditersquo;s Grotto, the most scandalous brothel in London. But when Annarsquo;s plan is revealed, a bit of blackmail is thrown into the mix, a proposal is rejected and even the Earl himself will be unprepared for the intrigues that ensnare them.

Really good book! - Liz -
I checked this book out of the library. That way if I didn't like it I didn't spend any money on it. So I checked it out and I really loved it. I couldn't put the book down. I spent hours every day reading it with suspense wondering what's going to happen next. There were some curves in it, really good, hot sex scenes, and a very happy ending to it. I really enjoyed this book and I think others will to. I can't wait to read the other books in the series. Elizabeth Hoyt has made me a fan of hers. And I can't wait to see how the other books go.

Wonderful Book - Desperate Romance Reader -
I loved this book ... and I devour romance novels ... the characters were great, perhaps the male protagonist was a tad too insecure about his marked face and body; however, I would be too, so perhaps that is justifiable. Hoyt is one of my favorite romance authors ... although not all her works are as captivating as this one ... but I still buy everything she comes out with ... It is a great read ... I highly recommend it.

Love the begining but dissapointed at the end - Bazo - New York, NY
The book started out on the right note for me. I love the unconventional hero and story, granted it required a willing suspension of disbelief but I digress. I liked Edward right away and I liked the pace of the story. I also like the secondary characters especially Edward's valet, Davis and I loved the dog although I dislike the name Jock *shudder*

My issue was, 3/4 of the way through, where the plot is unfolding to it's climax, I didn't like how it was handled. I wished Edward realization would have come differently, instead, he became annoyingly similar to all the other typical hero's of the genre. I would also have like to learn about Pearl and Hopple and her sister's outcome.

I usually do not like series. I pick the best story out of a series with no inclination to revisit these characters again in other books but I like Simon Iddlesleigh in this book so I think it might be intriguing to read his book.
